Stellenausschreibung: Researcher or Post-doctoral Researcher
The European Centre for Minority Issues (ECMI) invites applications for a Researcher or Post-doctoral Researcher (TV-L 11-13, 100%) for its Research Cluster in Danish-German Minority Issues.
The Danish-German Minority Issues Cluster, established in 2022, reflects the ECMI’s commitment to the Danish-German border region, which is widely perceived as a best practice example of conflict resolution and minority accommodation and inclusion. The Cluster will critically examine the minority experiences of this region in close cooperation with regional stakeholders and communities. What are key elements of minority accommodation, empowerment and inclusion in the model? What conflicts and issues remain to be resolved given the political climate that acknowledges and supports national minorities? How does this create new spaces for cross-border region-building and for developing border regions as attractive living spaces? And what will be the impact of these developments on minority life? These are some of the key questions the Cluster aims to answer.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct independent and collaborative high-quality research within the programme of the Cluster.

Sharing the Cluster’s ‘citizen science’ approach to research in close collaboration with stakeholders and communities.

Disseminate research findings through high-ranking publications, policy reports, blog posts and conference participation.

Carry out and assist with other duties as determined by the Cluster leadership, such as the organization of workshops or the cooperation with partners.
Professional Requirements

A relevant MA/MSc/PhD degree within the social sciences or humanities.

Research or other work experience with minorities in the Danish-German region is considered an asset.

Very good communication and presentation skills and the ability to work in a team.

Command of either Danish or German, other minority languages spoken in the region (Frisian, Romanes) are an asset.

Good command of English as the working language of ECMI.
The Institution
The ECMI is an international, multi-disciplinary research and competence institution, working with governments, civil society, the academic community, and international organisations on minority issues in Europe. We aim to provide governments and the public with relevant research and analysis about national minorities as well as to influence the European agenda on minority affairs. The Centre offers a multicultural, English-language working environment with varied tasks and opportunities for professional advancement. Our management structure is flat with a high degree of autonomy in research work.
